Hospitality management
Hospitality management is the field of study and work concerned with running hotels, restaurants, events and other guest-facing businesses: operations, service, finance, marketing and people management.

In the UK, hospitality management is taught at universities (for example as BA or BSc degrees, often with a placement year), at further education colleges and through apprenticeships. Students cover front office and rooms division, food and beverage, revenue management, finance, marketing and leadership, and usually spend time working in hotels.
How it works in practice
Example: a second-year hospitality management student takes a placement at a 200-room city hotel. They rotate through front office, housekeeping and food and beverage, then spend time with the revenue manager learning how ADR, occupancy and RevPAR are tracked each day. Graduates start as supervisors or management trainees and move into department head roles.
